Rocky's owner could not walk him because he would bark, growl and lunge at people, dogs, and objects on walks. He also did not like visitors coming to the home, and was unable to be examined at the vet. Rocky is now able to take walks with his owner, accept visitors into the home, and is able to take treats from his vet at her office. He began working on having his nails trimmed, and can now accept a dremmel being used on his nails!
Oscar used to bite people when they tried to pet or touch him, and when they tried to put a leash on him. He also used to bark and growl at people and dogs when on walks. Oscar is currently a dog that LOVES to be pet, can easily be leashed for a walk, and "checks in" with his owner when he sees things outside that make him nervous. Is that not the cutest face EVER!
These 3 cuties used to bark incessently when the doorbell rang and when visitors arrived. The smaller dog even nipped at visitors, and the owner was unable to have company to her home. Now, all 3 dogs run to their own space when the doorbell rings and wait for their owner to open the door. They even greet visitors niceley by touching their hand. These dogs are able to accept visitors to the home and no more biting! I just love this picture of them looking so happy while training!
Sweet Nela guards food, spaces and toys from her house mate. She also is very sensitive to sounds, and will attack her house mate when frightened. Nela began desensitization to sound triggers and learned a very special "leave it", that will easily move her away from a fight should one happen in the future. Nela and her house mate have been fight free for a YEAR as of 4/17! Because the owners started a behavior modification plan, these dogs can live safely and happily together in their home.
'Sit, Stay, Lei". A fun game we play in basic obedience class. This dog is sitting and staying while being adorned AND photographed with a purple Lei!
Dinah has separation anxiety. She clawed and chewed her owners door frame to destruction. Today, Dinah is able to stay home alone calmly and without engaging in destructive, anxious behavior. Nothing makes me happier than to help dogs and owners develop skills to reduce and eliminate unwanted behavior. Keeping dogs out of shelters, and in their home with the poeple that love them, is so rewarding!
